HOW WILL WE GET THERE? We will travel to London either by Coach or Train, and then use public transport once in the city. However, there will be lots of walking too, as the places we are going do not have tube stations right outside their entrances. |

WHERE ARE WE STAYING? We are staying at Hillspring Lodge Hostel. It has comfortable rooms (with only 4 in each), spacious common areas, quality furnishings and restaurant are just some of the reasons we choose to stay there. Outside the hostel you’ll find lush green surroundings and it is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the centre of London. With easy access to the centre of town via the Underground and London Bus Routes nearby. www.hillspringlodge.co.uk |

WHAT WILL WE DO?
We will be visiting various attractions based on Music and Movies... BRITISH MUSIC EXPERIENCE It is Britain's interactive museum of popular music. Combining cutting edge audio-visual technology with some of the most coveted music memorabilia of all time and the only exhibition where you can select your favourite content and media recordings to keep. You can trace historic, era defining moments and trends through 60 years of music history, learn about British music’s influence on art, fashion and politics, feel the thrill of being in the crowd at a legendary gig, flick through virtual record collections, eavesdrop on fantasy dinner parties and search across a giant interactive music locations map of Great Britain. There are also infamous, iconic pieces of British music memorabilia. Not only that, you can develop your skills on guitar, bass, drums and in the vocal booth at the Gibson Interactive Studio and even your dance moves in Dance the Decades. And finally, when you return home you can log into your MyBME library and access all of favourite bits of the exhibition and continue your trip through music history. www.britishmusicexperience.com THE MOVIEUM
A unique new museum celebrating the UK film industry. Movieum (re-branded as the London Film Museum in January 2010) goes behind-the-scenes of the British film industry showcasing the great UK talent that has produced some of the world's most famous movies. From the history of Pinewood and Elstree Studios, through to the individual departments that come together to create a film, including special effects, animatronics, make-up and wardrobe and much more, there is something for everyone in this entertaining and educational experience. Featuring real sets, props and movie equipment. Ever wanted to know just how movies are made and just who creates the magic? Ever wondered where some of the biggest blockbusters of all time have been shot? Also included in the Movieum experience is Europe's leading animation art specialists; The Animation Art Gallery. Taking you through the history of this vibrant and exciting part of the Industry. From Beatrix Potter, Dangermouse, Mr Benn to Peppa Pig. www.londonfilmmuseum.com TREASURE HUNT
Depending on time and weather, there will also be a ‘treasure hunt’ around London to visit various places that have been in used for film locations or appeared in music videos. Groups (with adults) will need to get to the locations and have their photo taken there as proof of reaching the destination. SATURDAY SURPRISE They maybe a surprise Saturday evening - but if we told you what it is, it wouldn’t be a surprise! FANCY DRESS MEAL Saturday night, in the Hostel, before our meal, there will be the chance to change into a costume. The theme is obviously music and movies. Get your thinking caps on and start getting creative to make a costume for the night. Don’t make anything to big and awkward to carry though, as you will need to bring it with you in your bag. |

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? The cost of the weekend will be £55. This will include transport to and from London, an evening meal on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, over night accommodation and all the entrance fees. It doesn’t include breakfast on Saturday (so Scouts should eat before leaving home), or Lunch on Saturday. A packed Lunch will need to be brought with the Scouts. The trip is subsidised to make it affordable to those going. This is down through fundraising activities such as Bag Packs or sponsored events. If Scouts do not help with fundraising towards trips there will be an additional charge of £10 to go on the trip. An initial £15 NON REFUNDABLE deposit is required to secure a place on the trip by the end of June 2010. Two further payments of £20 are then payable in August and September. For those that don’t help fundraise the additional £10 will be due in October. |
